The Indian Navy has released an employment notification for the recruitment of Agniveer (Senior Secondary Recruit) posts for the 02/2025, 01/2026, and 02/2026 batches. Unmarried male and female candidates who are interested and eligible may apply online for the positions.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Navy SSR Recruitment

Age Limit:

• For the 02/2025 Batch: Candidates should be born between 01 Sep 2004 to 29 Feb 2008 (both dates inclusive).

• For the 01/2026 Batch: Candidates should be born between 01 Feb 2005 to 31 Jul 2008 (both dates inclusive).

• For the 02/2026 Batch: Candidates should be born between 01 Jul 2005 to 31 Dec 2008 (both dates inclusive).

Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply. Agniveers are not permitted to marry during their 4-year tenure.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

• Qualified 10+2 with Mathematics & Physics from a Board of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

• Passed a three-year diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automobiles, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology, Information Technology) from a Central, State, or UT recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate.

• Passed a two-year Vocational Course with a Non-vocational subject (Physics and Mathematics) from Education Boards recognized by the Central, State, or UT with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Selection Process for Indian Navy SSR Recruitment

The selection process for Agniveer (SSR) involves two stages:

Stage I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)

• This is an all-India computer-based examination for shortlisting candidates.

• Type of Exam: Computer-Based Examination (Objective Type)

• Medium: Bilingual (Hindi & English)

• Total Marks: 100

• Duration: 1 hour

• Syllabus: English, Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness (12th standard syllabus)

• Negative Marking: One-fourth (0.25) marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.

Stage II: Written Exam, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and Recruitment Medical Examination

• Candidates shortlisted based on INET will be issued call-up letters for Stage II, which includes a written examination, PFT, and recruitment medical examination.

• PFT Standards:

  • Male: 1.6 km run in 6:30 minutes, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, 15 bent knee sit-ups

  • Female: 1.6 km run in 8 minutes, 15 squats, 10 push-ups, 10 bent knee sit-ups

• Recruitment Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying the PFT will undergo a medical examination. Only those found medically fit will be included in the merit list.

• Merit List: The merit list will be prepared based on performance in Stage II, subject to qualification in PFT and the medical examination. The merit list will be prepared state-wise, and the cutoff marks for recruitment at INS Chilka may vary by state.
