The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Competitive Examination (Preliminary), 2024 (APSC CCE 2024), announcing the recruitment of 262 vacancies. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for this examination.



The APSC CCE is one of the most prestigious exams conducted by APSC for the recruitment of various Group A posts, including Assam Civil Service, Assam Police Service, Superintendent of Taxes, District Transport Officer, and others.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

  • Regional Language Proficiency: Candidates must be able to speak Assamese or another official language or any of the tribal languages of Assam.

  • Residency: Candidates must be original inhabitants of Assam.

  • Employment Exchange Registration: Candidates should be registered with a District Employment Office in Assam.

  • Small Family Norms: A declaration regarding "The normal Family Norms" in Form-A should be submitted during the application process.

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 38 years of age as of 01.01.2024.

    • Age Relaxation:

      • SC/ST: 5 years

      • OBC/MOBC: 3 years

      • PwBD: 10 years

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.

  • General: Rs. 297.20

  • SC/ST: Rs. 47.20

  • OBC/MOBC: Rs. 197.20

  • BPL: Rs. 47.20

  • PwBD: Rs. 47.20

  • Women Candidates: Rs. 47.20

How to Apply

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official APSC website.

  2. Go to the Important Web-Links section and click on the Online Application Form link.

  3. Fill in the required personal and educational details.

  4. Upload your passport-sized photograph, signature, and other required documents.

  5. Pay the application fee according to your category.

  6. Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.


Selection Process

The Combined Competitive Examination consists of two stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type):

    • Exam Pattern: Two objective-type papers of 2 hours each.

    • Total Marks: 400 (200 marks per paper)

    • Negative Marking: One-fourth of the total marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.

    • Exam Centers: Various centers across Assam, including Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar, Tezpur, and others.

  2. Main Examination (Written & Interview):

    • The Main Examination will consist of six papers, each carrying 250 marks.

    • Total Marks for Main Exam: 1500 marks (for written papers).

    • The interview will carry 180 marks.

    • Exam Centers: Guwahati.

    • Written Exam: Conventional essay-type or objective-type questions.

    • Interview: Candidates will be called for an interview in a ratio of 1:3 based on the written exam results.
