State Eligibility Test (SET) 2025 - Assam
The State Level Eligibility Test (SET) is a competitive exam conducted by the State Level Eligibility Test Commission (SLET), Assam (North Eastern Region). This exam is designed to identify eligible candidates for the position of Assistant Professor, similar to the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Eligibility Criteria:
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit to appear in the SET exam. Candidates who qualify the exam can apply for the Assistant Professor position within the jurisdictions of the Member-States of the SLET Commission.
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or an equivalent examination from a university/institution recognized by UGC, for General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates.
- For SC/ST/PWD/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, a minimum of 50% marks (without rounding off) is required in the Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
- Candidates who have appeared or will appear for their final year Master’s degree examination, or whose results are awaited, may also apply.

- UR (Unreserved): Rs. 1200/-
- OBC-NCL: Rs. 1050/-
- EWS: Rs. 1050/-
- SC/ST: Rs. 1000/-
- PWD: Rs. 800/-

About the SET Exam:
The State Eligibility Test (SET) consists of two papers with objective-type questions:
Paper I: General subject focused on teaching and research aptitude, assessing reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. (50 Questions, 100 Marks, 1 Hour duration)
Paper II: Subject-specific questions based on the candidate’s chosen subject. (100 Questions, 200 Marks, 2 Hours duration)
Exam Schedule:
- Paper-I: 100 Marks, 50 Questions, 1 Hour (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM)
- Paper-II: 200 Marks, 100 Questions, 2 Hours (11:30 AM - 1:30 PM)
Compensatory Time: Candidates with visual impairment and other disabilities will be given 20 minutes of extra time for each paper.
