The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam has released two employment notifications for the recruitment of 4,500 Assistant Teacher positions in Lower and Upper Primary Schools under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam. Eligible candidates who are Indian citizens, permanent residents of Assam, and have qualified the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) may apply online for these posts.



DEE LP UP Teacher Recruitment Details

  • Name of Post: Assistant Teacher (LP) & Assistant Teacher (UP)
  • Total No. of Posts: 4,500
    • Lower Primary: 2,900 posts
    • Upper Primary: 1,600 posts
  • Department: Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam
  • Scale of Pay: Pay Band - 2 (PB-2) @ Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- plus Grade Pay and other allowances as per “The Assam Service (Revision of Pay) (Amendment) Rules, 2019”.

Eligibility Criteria for DEE LP UP Teacher Recruitment

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Permanent Residents of Assam.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 40 years of age as of 1st January 2025.
    • Age Relaxation:
      • Ex-Servicemen: 2 years
      • OBC/MOBC: 3 years
      • SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 5 years
      • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years
  • Small Family Norms: Applicants must not have more than two living children born on or after 01/01/2021 from a single or multiple partners.
  • Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction of the school should match the Language-I or Language-II of the candidate’s ATET or CTET.
  • ATET/CTET Qualification: Candidates must have passed ATET/CTET for the respective posts (Lower Primary/Upper Primary).

Educational Qualifications

  • Assistant Teacher (LP):
    • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    • ATET or CTET for Lower Primary School.
  • Assistant Teacher (UP):
    • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent).
    • Graduate from a UGC-recognized University.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed./B.El.Ed.
    • ATET or CTET for Upper Primary School.
  • Science Teacher (UP):
    • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent).
    • B.Sc. from a UGC-recognized University.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed./B.El.Ed.
    • ATET or CTET for Upper Primary School.
  • Hindi Teacher (UP):
    • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent).
    • Graduate with Hindi as one of the subjects from a UGC-recognized University.
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed./B.El.Ed.
    • ATET or CTET for Upper Primary School.

  4. Fill in personal and educational details and upload necessary documents.

  6. After submission, you will receive a Unique Number for future reference.

Important Note: Once you submit the online application for a particular ATET/CTET Roll Number, you will not be allowed to apply again.
